These horses will live out their days with us at Sunshine. They help to showcase their breed and this organization.
Armbro Doyle is our program horse! He has gone to shows and events to show everyone the joys of the Standardbred. Armbro Doyle is incredibly versatile. He has gone from walking and trotting under saddle (even bareback and in a hackamore) to hitched and ready to go for a drive. He’s a very sweet and gentle boy who loves to teach our 4-H and girl scout visitors all about horses and horse care. Doyle is great with every volunteer-young and old, new and seasoned. We love having him in our program!
Fernando is our mini donkey! He is Sunny’s best friend and frequently joins him on excursions to events and other outings. He loves the attention from volunteers and greets everyone with his lovable, loud braying.
Sunny is our resident mini rep! He travels to many of our events to help promote Sunshine Horses. He takes his job very seriously and we love being able to take him places where our bigger horses can’t go. Sunny can be found hanging out with Fernando and mooching treats from all of the volunteers.
Sisko is our favorite old gentleman! This quarter horse gelding has a real “Been there, done that” way about him. He’s worked as a Civil War reenactment horse, carted kids around at our open house, showed off in parades and so much more without batting an eye. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have pep in his step-take him on a trail and off he goes! Sisko loves to spend his days snoozing in the sun with some of his laid back buddies, his girlfriend Platinum and the little guys. His recent bout with laminitis/founder has led to his retirement, and Hucklebuck will be replacing him as an equine ambassador.
Hucklebuck is training to become another breed ambassador. His sweet and charming personality and willingness to try everything we throw at him makes him a great candidate for when Sisko retires to take to parades and handle pony rides. This handsome gelding is another fine example of just how talented Standardbreds are.
Exeter’s Ultimate is our president Kate’s handsome Morgan gelding. He has impeccable bloodlines (And he knows it!) and is extremely handsome (And he definitely knows that!). Around the barn he goes by Baron. Baron is learning to be a Sunshine ambassador and is working very hard under saddle. He is a funny and personable gelding who loves hanging out with Caesar.
Caesar is our president Kate’s Swedish warmblood gelding. He was bred by her father, as was Serengeti and Scarlett. Caesar is extremely talented but doesn’t like to show off. He’s modest like that. You can find Caesar paling around with Baron.
